Warner taps Charlottesville woman to crime task force

Governor Mark R. Warner has appointed Charlottesville resident Karen Waters to a statewide task force geared at combating crime in minority communities.

Waters is director of the Quality Community Council, a nonprofit organization created by the City Manager's office, and will assist the task force in finding ways to reduce crime in minority communities as well as advising crime prevention and criminal justice practitioners.

The task force plans to hold community forums across Virginia to hear information about crime in minority communities and devise preventive measures.
