Rain delays annual Dogwood Festival

After days of heavy rain, planners of the local Dogwood Festival were forced to delay the commencement of the annual festivities until today. The Festival had been scheduled to kick-off on Tuesday, according to the City of Charlottesville Web site.

In its 54th year, the Dogwood Festival includes a parade and crowning of the Dogwood Queen, dogwood tree sales and activities throughout the City.

Music performances and golf, tennis and lacrosse tournaments also are scheduled throughout the Festival, which ends April 25.
