Following the Cavaliers' 56-24 victory over North Carolina on Saturday, the ACC named two members of the Virginia football team Players of the Week at their respective positions.
Recognized among offensive linemen was senior guard Elton Brown. Headed by Brown, the Virginia offensive line allowed no sacks or quarterback pressures for the second consecutive game. The strong effort by Brown and the line helped the Cavaliers to compile 549 yards in offense, the most in a single game in five seasons. 299 of those yards came on the ground, Virginia's highest rushing total in six seasons.
Also honored by the ACC was senior special teams player Marquis Weeks. For the second time in his career, Weeks matched an NCAA record by returning a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. His 132 yards in kickoff returns led the team, as the Cavaliers compiled 238 return yards -- a new school record. The previous record of 228 return yards had stood since 1951.
