Dave Matthews Band donates to local organization

The Dave Matthews Band donated $7,000 this week to the Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates, an organization dedicated to training community volunteers to serve as special advocates for abused and endangered children in the Charlottesville/Albemarle juvenile court, The Daily Progress reported yesterday.

The money was donated to Piedmont CASA through BAMA Works Foundation, a fund set up by the band for its charitable works.

Through the Family Treatment Court in Charlottesville, Piedmont CASA and several other local agencies work with parents whose problems with substance abuse have caused them to neglect or abuse their children.

The participants, many of whom have children in foster care, have the opportunity to receive treatment, assistance and support in their efforts to cure themselves of their drug addictions.
