ACC reveals new division names, logo for 2004-05

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

The Atlantic Coast Conference unveiled the seal for its new 12-team conference yesterday. When the ACC adds Boston College for the 2004-05 athletic season, the coastline on the conference seal will extend up to Massachusetts, and a new dot will be added for the Eagles. The seal will also be slightly elongated to fully encompass the Atlantic coast.

The two football divisions will be broken up into the Atlantic Division and the Coastal Division. Joining Virginia in the Coastal division will be Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech and Miami, while Maryland, Clemson, Boston College, N.C. State and Wake Forest will round out the Atlantic Division.

Each team will play the other teams in its division every year and also face a permanent partner from the other division. The Cavaliers' permanent partner will be the Terrapins. The alignment will not be used for basketball.
