Estimated reading time: 0 minutes

38-year-old Thomas Clark of Rock Creek Road was charged with assault and battery, trespassing and obstruction of justice Friday after he allegedly grabbed a female student in a Culbreth Theater restroom, according to Sgt. Melissa Fielding of the University Police Department.

Clark reportedly followed the student into a bathroom in the drama building around 9 a.m. and grabbed her as she was leaving.

Clark then followed her into an area where several faculty members were gathered. As they tried to confront him, he fled and was taken into custody by the police on the railroad tracks between Culbreth Theater and Lambeth Field. Clark is being held in regional jail and is scheduled to appear in Albemarle Regional Court Oct. 8.
