Men's lacrosse plays NCAA finalists Navy Midshipmen in first scrimmage of year

The men's lacrosse team will have its first scrimmage of the season this Friday in Virginia Beach. The Cavaliers will face off against their rivals from the Naval Academy in a rematch of last season's opening scrimmage, which Virginia unofficially won 11-7.

Navy had a successful 2004 season, making it to the finals of the NCAA tournament before falling to Syracuse 14-13.

While Virginia did make it to the finals of the ACC tournament, where they fell to the top-seeded Terrapins, the team did not make it to the NCAA tournament and finished last season with a record of 5-8.

The unofficial matchup with the Midshipmen will begin Friday at 7 pm. This will be the first of two scrimmages between the teams before the season officially begins in February.
