Tennis players reach semifinals at Penn

Both the men's and women's tennis squads competed earlier this week at the ITA Regional Tennis Championships held at the University of Pennsylvania.

Virginia's Rylan Rizza reached the semifinals of the men's singles bracket, after two wins in straight sets. The doubles duo of Rizza and Nick Meythaler, seeded No. 1 in the doubles draw, fell in the semifinals to the No. 4 seeded team from Duke.

Five Virginia women reached the second round of the singles and doubles draws. In singles play, Cavalier Diana Srebovic upset No. 1 Seed Ramona But en route to the quarterfinals. Srebovic notched another upset, as she and partner Douglas Wink teamed up to take down the No. 1 seeded doubles duo on their way to the semifinals.

The men's team will split up for two tournaments this weekend at Tennessee and Alabama, while the women's team travels to Tallahassee for the Florida State Invitational.
