Volleyball splits pair of ACC weekend road matches

Virginia fell to North Carolina Friday, but defeated N.C. State Saturday to finish 1-1 on the road against ACC competition for the second straight weekend.

The Cavaliers (12-4, 2-2 ACC) earned a 3-1(30-18, 34-36, 30-17, 30-22) victory over the Wolfpack, as freshman outside hitter Sarah Kirkwoon, sophomore outside hitter Lindsay Osco and senior middle Alexis Geocaris combined for 60 of Virginia's 72 kills in the win.

Virginia split the first two sets against North Carolina, but dropped the last two, as the Tar Heels triumphed 3-1 (30-28, 22-30, 30-25, 30-22). UNC recorded 17.5 team blocks compared to Virginia's nine.
