Women's basketball loses to Arizona State in season opener

The Cavalier women's basketball team fell to Arizona State, 60-50, in their season opener in Baton Rouge, La. in the first round of the Women's Sports Foundation Classic.

Virginia cut Arizona State's lead to 54-50 with 1:18 to go, but the Sun Devils closed out the game with six straight points to triumph 60-50.

Senior Brandi Teamer paced the Cavaliers with 18 points -- all in the second half -- in the defeat.

Virginia faces Maine tonight at 5 p.m.
