A woman in her late 30s claimed to be assaulted in a house on Montrose Avenue in Charlottesville Monday. The attack has not been linked to the serial rapist, Charlottesville Police told The Daily Progress.
When the woman went upstairs to look around, after noticing some objects had been moved, she said she was pulled into the darkness by an intruder.
When the intruder claimed to have a gun and ordered her to be quiet, the woman immediately screamed for her friend who was downstairs. As the victim's friend, in her mid-50s, arrived upstairs, a fight broke out between the two women and the intruder, taking all three of them down the stairs.
Police reported that the assailant then put one woman in a headlock, while bashing both of their heads against the wall.
The women sustained minor injuries, but neither was seriously hurt.
The intruder was described as a black male between the ages of 20 and 35, weighing 150-190 pounds, and 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall.
Police told The Daily Progress that the intruder did not display any of the "signature" behaviors of the Charlottesville serial rapist.
