University student charged with trespassing, vandalism at local church

A University student allegedly broke into a Corner-area church early Saturday morning, WINA radio reported yesterday.

According to local affiliate NBC-29, Charlottesville police found third-year Engineering student Andrew J. Michelotti sleeping near the pulpit of St. Paul's Memorial Episcopal Church around 4 a.m. The church is located on University Avenue across from the Rotunda.

Michelotti, who allegedly broke several windows to enter the church, has been charged with trespassing and vandalism, according to the WINA report.

The report also said several of the windows had been repaired as early as yesterday.
