University students received a mass e-mail Friday which informed them of an incident involving an "unknown male" who woke up a female resident in the Hancock residence hall and fled.
The episode occurred at about 4:20 a.m. Friday morning and was followed by a University and Charlottesville police search for the suspect.
The suspect was described in the e-mail as a male "between 5 foot 8 inches and 5 foot 9 inches tall. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark zip-up collared jacket."
University Police were unavailable for comment yesterday.
One Hancock resident said she was not particularly concerned about the incident.
"I wasn't really that scared [be]cause it just sounds like a drunk kid," said first-year College student Kathleen Clarke.
