What makes you a competent and qualified candidate?
I am an extremely energetic and outgoing gentleman. I have experience in leadership positions and do not have problems motivating comrades to devote themselves to accomplishing set goals. I have also become familiar with our constitution and by-laws, a necessity for EVP.
In your opinion, what are the most pressing issues facing the University and how would you use your office to deal with them?
The most important issue I see facing Student Council would be increasing both student involvement and respect for the Council. I understand a majority of the student population as being mostly apathetic to the activities of StudCo. Another big issue is a lack of diversity among top organizations in the University, including StudCo and the UJC. Using different methods to publicize elections and office opportunities within the existing organizational structure is a possible solution to this.
How will you maintain contact with your constituency and ensure transparency in your actions?
Through my associations with important members of varied organizations, and the fact that I am probably one of the most easily approachable people alive, I am sure that people will not have problems voicing their concerns and listening to current events directly from the Student Council floor. I also have plans to implement a voluntary mailing list directly from Student Council, which will give weekly updates of all topics covered by the Council.
Why did you decide to run for office?
The majority of the people that run for office have always been the same political type, seeking to advance the same agenda. I know that my presence on the Council will be a breath of crisp air, offering new insights and perspectives to the Council. It is my utmost desire to make all of your wildest dreams come true.
