Academic Calendar Altered

The University released the 2005-2006 Academic Calendar yesterday.

The calendar provides a week for Thanksgiving, and Winter Break will begin earlier in the year.

Also, the calendar gives one day, Oct. 3, for Fall Break. The final exam period will end May 12.

"The primary motivation for changing it was giving students better blocks of time at holidays, especially at Christmas so students would be able to work," University spokesperson Carol Wood said. "We kept hearing that students weren't getting home early enough to get jobs. By adjusting the whole schedule, it gets students home sooner for the Christmas holiday in particular in order to get holiday employment."
