The Cavalier Daily elected a 117th managing board, senior board and junior board this Saturday. The new Cavalier Daily leadership took its post yesterday.
Former Opinion Editor Mike Slaven, a third-year College student, undertook the position of editor-in-chief.
"I think the number one institutional goal for the paper is diversity," said Slaven when asked his vision for the upcoming term.
Other new members of the managing board include third-year College student and past News Senior Associate Editor Alex Sellinger, who was elected managing editor.
Former Opinion Associate Editor Herb Ladley, a second-year College student, assumed the role of executive editor, and Jordan Buller, second-year College student and previous Production editor, was elected operations manager.
Completing the managing board is Kathleen Meyers, third-year College student and former News editor, who was chosen to serve as chief financial officer.
New senior board members include Ads Manager Christina Stavridis, a third-year College student, and Director of Information Technology Tyson Baldridge, an Engineering graduate student.
Third-year College students Michelle Jamrisko and Elizabeth Newell, former Life and Sports editors, respectively, were elected to serve as assistant managing editors.
Two former News associate editors, third-year College student Chris Hall and second-year College student Caroline Freeman, were elected News editors. Former News Associate Editor Margaret Bonner, a second-year Engineering student, will assume the role of News senior associate editor.
The News section includes eight new associate editors: first-year College students Kristen Hawkins, Maura O'Keefe, Jacqueline Minneman and Maggie Thornton, as well as second-year College students Whitney Gruenloh, Stephanie Fees, Andy Mullan, Christina Tkacik and Sarah Peeden.
Second-year College students Teresa Wood and Becca Garrison were selected to lead the Life section as editors. The newest Life associate editors are first-year College students Victoria Brayton and Lindsey Wagner, first-year Engineering student Vinu Ilakkuvan, as well as third-year College students Daniel Reinish and Defne Gunay.
Former Opinion Associate Editor Adam Keith, a second-year College student, and former Opinion columnist and first-year College student Elizabeth Mills were chosen to take over the Opinion section. Second-year College students Rajesh Jain and Dan Keyserling as well third-year College student Allan Cruickshanks are the new Opinion associate editors.
College students Margaret Sessa-Hawkins, a second year, and Matt Boucher, a third year, will edit Sports. James Wagner, a second-year College student, was elected Gameday editor. In addition, first-year College students Ernie Washington, Sam Dreiman, Zach Rowen and Anders Sleight, as well as second-year College student Megan McDonald, are the newest associate editors for Sports.
Lee Sullivan, a third-year College student, was chosen along with first-year College students Bowman Dickson and Elyssa Wilensky to serve as the new Production editors.
Second-year College students Sam Stollar and Jenna Wandres will take on the role of Photo editors.
Former News Associate Editor Maria Tchijov, a second-year College student, was elected Health & Sexuality editor. Another former News associate editor, Ashley Simpson, is the newly elected Focus editor. Third-year College student Diane Pletcher and first-year College student Kristina Ferris will serve as Nation & World editors.
A Science editor has yet to be announced for this term.
The editorship of Tableau will go to the newest Arts and Entertainment editors, College students third-year Molly Seltzer and second-year David Moltz. First-year College students Jeannette Williams and Tyler Zang, as well as second-year College student Nora Nunn, were appointed Arts and Entertainment associate editors. A senior associate has yet to be assigned.
The newly selected Graphics editors are third-year College student John McNamee and second-year Engineering student Ellisha Marongelli.
