Tramba chosen Honor chair; Blank to lead UJC

The University Judiciary Committee and Honor Committee announced their newly elected executive committee members last night. Both student groups selected their new members in elections this weekend.

Third-year Engineering student Alison Tramba was selected for the position of Honor chair. Tramba said planning for next year's committee is already underway.

"Over the next few weeks we'll really be defining concrete goals for the year and looking to have the student body as involved in achieving those goals as possible," Tramba said.

Newly-elected vice chair for services, third-year College student A-J Aronstein, said he hopes to expand the role of his new position.

"I'm looking forward to working with the executive committee and the committee itself to expand the role of the vice chair for services to make [the position] more engaged with the student body and the community itself," Aronstein said.

Law student Jay Trickett, elected vice chair for trials, said he hopes to emphasize the positive role of honor in the community.

"One thing we want to do is to shift the discourse and debate about honor to the positive aspects of being a member of the community of trust," Trickett said.

The other two newly elected members of Honor's executive board are third-year College students Kendall Fox and Andrew Siegel, elected vice chair for education and vice chair for investigations, respectively.

The UJC elected third-year College student Raleigh Anne Blank to the position of executive committee chair.

Blank said she hopes to attract new participants to the committee.

"I want the brightest and the best students to get involved with UJC," Blank said. "I will work tirelessly with you all to see that each person is fulfilling his or her duties to the best of his ability."

Blank added that she hopes to involve the entire University community in the UJC process by educating students about their right to bring cases before the committee.

Second-year College student Connor Sullivan was elected vice chair for first years. Sullivan previously served as the chair of First Year Judiciary Council.

Sullivan said he hopes to recruit the best possible members for FYJC by reaching out to members of all schools during recruitment, as the Council usually is composed of a disproportionately large number of College students.

Law student Eli DeJarnette was elected vice chair for trials after having previously served as an investigator for three years and a counselor for two years.

Graduate Arts & Sciences student Gavin Reddick was elected UJC vice chair for sanctions.
