South Lawn work to affect JPA traffic flow

Construction on the University's soon-to-be-completed South Lawn Project will result in changes in traffic patterns throughout this month. Work on the terrace crossing, including the installation of metal ceiling panels and steel hand guardrails, will require several periods of lane closures on Jefferson Park Avenue.

One lane along Jefferson Park Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from today through Wednesday, as well as from April 22 through April 26. Two traffic lanes will remain open, with construction personnel facilitating traffic flow.

University spokesperson Ida Lee Wooten said from Thursday through April 21, two traffic lanes underneath the terrace crossing will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., with one lane open to vehicular traffic. The work will proceed depending upon weather conditions.

Other construction that could impact travel includes work on Lane Road, which will be reduced to one lane of traffic starting today through May 14, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., to increase utility capacity for the Medical Center, Health System spokesperson Bob Larsen said.
