The No. 17 Virginia women's cross country team and the No. 19 men's team finished first and second place, respectively, at this weekend's Lou Onesty Open held in Charlottesville.
The Cavalier women, who registered a perfect score at the meet, were buoyed by the top-seven finishers in the 5K event and tied an event record for best overall team finish. Senior Anna Corrigan highlighted the talented group's overall outing with a first-place performance on the 5K course with an 18:04.50finishing time.
Meanwhile, on the men's side, three Cavaliers secured top-20 finishes in the 8K event en route to a second-place overall finish behind Georgetown. The Hoyas nabbed 20 total points to secure the victory ahead of the Cavaliers, who tallied 72 points - just one point ahead of third-place finisher Norfolk State.
Both squads will now begin preparation for the Paul Short Invitational, slated for Sept. 30 in Bethlehem, Pa.
