Junior sprinter Jordan Lavender was the lone member of the Virginia indoor track and field team to compete in the NCAA Championships last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M.
Lavender competed in the 400 meter, where she was seeded fifth in a field of 16. The eight fastest times of the four-section preliminary heat advanced to the final heat.
Lavender ran a 52.99 in the preliminary heat. The time was her third-best indoor time, but she placed 12th in a super-competitive field.
The Cavaliers now turn their attention to the start of the outdoor season, which will begin by the team hosting the Virginia Cup this Saturday at Lannigan Field.
