A threatening email sent to University officials and their teams shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday poses no credible threat, per an email sent by Chief Operating Officer J.J. Davis and Timothy Longo, associate vice president for security and safety and chief of the University Police Department Thursday morning.
The Cavalier Daily was not provided a copy of the message, which Davis and Longo said came from an individual “threatening to harm the U.Va. community.” UPD conducted a preliminary investigation in collaboration with other law enforcement partners who are “familiar with the messaging” of the threatening email to determine that the message did not warrant any immediate action.
University officials will continue to stay in contact with law enforcement in case of new developments or in light of “any additional information that would cause concern and necessitate any adjustments to our operational status.”
Individuals are urged to contact UPD or call or text 911 in the event someone sees something concerning.
