Through attending office-hours and sharing an occasional meal, students and professors both attempt to build relations with one another in order to build a more cohesive learning experience at the University. Students look to gain everything from a better understanding of the material to tangible, experienced-based career advice, while professors find enjoyment in and even learn from getting to know their students.

In collaboration with the University’s Women’s Center, the Multicultural Student Center held a Women’s Open Mic Night Thursday as a final celebrative event for Women’s History Month, creating an open space for all female-identifying community members on Grounds to share poetry, stand-up comedy or personal thoughts and experiences.

Warmer, sunny days are finally making their way to Grounds, teasing students with the promise of a soon-approaching spring. As students settle into classes, some have already secured summer plans, while others are preparing to gain another type of education — employment experience in the form of summer internships.

When the University announced its official plans for a return to an in-person learning environment for the Fall semester, there was an evident rush of excitement on Grounds in response to the idea of resumed normalcy. Still, one of the few preventative measures against COVID-19 remains in practice since this announcement — the University-wide mask mandate.

While many students and returning alumni spent Saturday morning preparing for game day tailgates and reunion events, others woke up early to flip pancakes for charity. Student volunteers capitalized on the hustle and bustle of the Young Alumni Reunion and the home football game against Duke — a big, close-to-home rival of the University — to put on the annual Pancakes for Parkinson's event, raising money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease.
