If you’ve walked around Grounds in the past year, chances are you have seen a t-shirt brandishing the phrase “UVA Stepmom.” The iconic, satirical t-shirts have become a fashion staple among the University student body, and their design, production and promotion can be accredited to one student creative — third-year Commerce student Mary Walton Petersen.

When he’s not making game-winning saves or serving as team captain, Holden Brown, University soccer goalkeeper and fourth-year College student, is pursuing a pastime different from many of his teammates — art. Between poetry, sculpture, painting, drawing and photography, Brown’s skills span a variety of mediums and are never confined to a certain style or concept.

Taylor Swift’s albums have long been known as distinct, individual pieces, each signifying a dramatic shift from the previous. Following up the minimalist, folk and alternative-inspired “folklore” and “evermore,” Swift once again did what she does best — evolved. Live Arts explores this question in its season’s opening production, Caryl Churchill’s “Love and Information,” which will run Sept. 30 through Oct. 22 in the Founders Theater.
