Despite the rainy conditions, University students and the Charlottesville community had no trouble finding sunshine at the fourth annual Miles for Margaret 5K that honors former University student Margaret Lowe.

A device for diabetes management developed at the University could lead to a day when Type 1 diabetes patients no longer have to perform multiple blood tests a day or personally inject themselves with insulin. University researchers, in collaboration with Charlottesville company TypeZero Technologies, refined a software that automatically monitors blood glucose levels of Type 1 diabetes patients and determines how much insulin they should receive at a given moment.

Sitting in Clark Stacks during the early morning hours, I stare at my haggard reflection and can’t help but wonder whether all this is worth it. What am I even working towards? Will the stressful days and sleepless nights pay off in the end and provide me with a life I desire?

Often times I like to play a game with myself where I pretend I am going to do work, when in reality I am going to partake in one of my favorite pastimes of people watching. The game starts out with me lugging all of my study materials eternities away to the Corner, which is followed by me camping out in one of the large windows in 1515. I then pull out my computer or reading materials and start my tasks. So far, the game is fun and my disguise is believable. It truly appears that I am a studious member of the community getting stuff done and being productive.
