The Virginia Players’ performed an adaptation of “My Name is Rachel Corrie” as a part of the Lab Series Festival held from Dec. 4 to 6 at Helms Theater. The play is a compilation of the words of American activist Rachel Corrie written during her time in the Gaza Strip in Palestine. Put together by Alan Rickman and journalist Katharine Viner, the one-woman show portrays what it means to enter a contested area with a certain preconceived frame of mind.

Throughout September and October, photographers across Grounds have hunted through their archives in search of original pictures of places around the world or those that highlight the global character of the University. These were the only two conditions which had to be met in order to submit to the U.Va. Global Lens Photography Exhibit.

In the middle of a busy day, a handful of James Joyce enthusiasts brought out their well-marked and coveted copies of his magnum opus, “Ulysses,” for the first event of its kind — U.Va. Reads “Ulysses.” Starting April 8 in the Amphitheater and continuing on into the early hours of April 9, the postmodern masterpiece was brought to life once again. The event began with everyone reading the first few pages aloud, a surefire way to capture the attention of onlookers and stragglers who eventually joined the reading.

Two courageous souls from the Cavalier Daily’s Arts & Entertainment section braved the Paramount for a night of horror on Apr. 3 for a pre-screening of “Unfriended,” a pioneer film of the Cyber Horror genre put on by the Virginia Horror Society and Universal Pictures at the University.

Indie singer-songwriter Danny Schmidt is returning to Charlottesville Thursday to perform at The Southern. Schmidt has been writing and releasing his own music since 1999 and is currently promoting his ninth album “Owls,” which will be released on May 19.

Indian Classical Night is a colorful showcase of the diverse cultural dances and musical talents present at the University as well as in the Charlottesville community. Hosted by the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth and the Hindu Student Council, ICN 2015 anticipates a larger audience this year.
