Charlottesville City Council will select a candidate Tuesday to fill a vacant seat after previous Council member Sena Magill resigned. Six candidates — Alex Bryant, Kathy Galvin, Kristin Szakos, Natalie Oschrin, Lisa Larson-Torres and Leah Puryear — gave speeches during the City Council meeting last week about their goals for the City.

Evan Smith — co-founder of the nationally renowned newspaper The Texas Tribune — begins his term as The Karsh Institute of Democracy’s inaugural Practitioner Fellow, aiming to facilitate conversations that introduce individuals to ideas different from their own. As the Institute’s first Distinguished Fellow in Journalism, Smith will study the role of local news in achieving this goal and democracy as a whole.

After a delayed opening due to renovations slowed by supply chain complications, the Pavilion XI Chick-fil-A reopened to students featuring an updated ordering system and menu options. Despite intended improvements, long wait times continue to leave students disappointed.

This semester, the Peer Led Learning program added two new courses to its program — Introduction to Biology and Organic Chemistry. Students and peer coaches have already experienced success with both offerings, prompting P2L to consider even more additions.
