The Board of Visitors held a workshop and public comment session Friday regarding proposed tuition increases for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Board’s current proposal includes a tuition increase between three and four percent for both in-state and out-of-state students.

During its meeting Sunday, the Honor Committee prepared to finalize its proposed internal disclosure policy, which would require that members of Honor inform the committee of any disciplinary proceedings they are involved in. The Committee took no official action to change its code of ethics and implement the disclosure policy during this meeting. The two amendments to its bylaws that the Committee did approve represent some of the final steps before the Committee officially weighs in on final consideration of the policy.

University President Jim Ryan delivered his Honor the Future campaign address Saturday in Old Cabell Hall, where he announced that the University has already raised $2.75 billion of its $5 billion goal. The campaign seeks to fund Ryan’s 10-year strategic plan, which aims to establish the University as a leading public school by 2030.

The University Board of Elections announced New Student Election results Thursday evening. In the first-year elections, approximately 35 percent of students voted for First-Year Council president, 33 percent for First-Year Council vice president and 31 percent for First-Year Student Council representatives. Out of 655 eligible transfer students, 57 students — or 8.7 percent — voted in the election for the transfer representative.
