Planned deception?
I am writing in response to Margaret Lipman's March 29 guest column ("Interpreting Abortion"). Lipman opens her article with a tirade saying that Del. Bob Marshall uses "children with disabilities as a pawn" to scare women. I agree that Marshall's comments were offensive, and that he has no right to impose judgment on those who have abortions; however, Lipman's intention is to bring light to his statement, so that people will view Marshall as a candidate who views the disabled as a problem to society. But I ask you: Who really upholds the dignity of the disabled: abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood who provide abortions for women who do not want their potentially disabled child, or pro-life activists, such as Marshall, who believe in the dignity of all, unborn, disabled, unwanted, or unexpected?
