Toro y Moi’s latest album, “What For?,” forms the soundtrack of quasi-adulthood immaculately as its hyper-relaxed sound embodies the age’s sensibilities.

Pop singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. is in a state of grieving. The gorgeous emotional reprieve that constitutes Jesso’s debut, “Goon,” targets pop album essentials such as broken hearts and failures to make it as an artist in Los Angeles. But Jesso still sounds minimalistic and huge without stumbling into boring or overly dramatic territories.

Heems’ debut album, “Eat Pray Thug,” is a seething, biting rap record offering brilliant insight on social issues often overlooked by the genre. Though the record is great thanks to Heems’ intensity and harsh, direct sound, it occasionally falters in its communication and themes.

Title Fight’s “Hyperview” is a dizzying, dark reflection on a menagerie of obscurity. Dominated by confessional slam poetry lyrics and a blundering, woozy tone, this album shows a significant shift from the band’s earlier material.
