A pandemic that many expected to quickly fade after a short period of disturbances in our lives has now lasted over two full years. This has meant mask wearing, isolation and so many more changes in our daily lives. For many individuals, it has also meant the addition of a new member to their family unit. My family recently joined this popular movement by adopting a beautiful female English yellow labrador retriever puppy over this past Thanksgiving break.

It’s that joyous time of year again when students forget to eat and spend so much time stressing over studying they forget to actually study. Finals season is upon us, and this year it will look different for many of us who are taking our exams online. Below I have included several helpful tips and tricks to minimize time spent studying while maximizing your score and free time to enjoy your last week of college.

Fellow Hoos, The Cavalier Daily has kindly allowed me a second column for which I am truly grateful. First, many thanks to all of you for lavishing me with gifts following my first column that helped so many of you flourish into social butterflies with a surplus of new friends. My advice is free, so please no gifts or financial rewards are necessary.

Life as a first year is tough enough. Making new friends is part of the challenge. Throw in the possibility that any non-online new friend could be the source of serious life-threatening illness and any new interactions become even more fraught with peril. Do not fret, my yet-to-be new friends, I have successfully navigated these treacherous waters and I have five new friends — I think – it may be only one or two actually, but I don’t think the honor code applies to exaggerating numbers in this context — and I am here to share some strategies to guide you in finding new friends.
