“Bob’s Burgers” has returned for Season 6, but the hit comedy needs to prove its staying power. The show has always been unique in the category of adult cartoons, using a caring family as its comedic platform rather than shock value or obscenity. At this point in its run, the biggest question is whether this family still has anything worth sharing.

Building on the success of its past two sessions, Lockn’ Festival attracted thousands once again this year to its jam-band focused shindig in the fields of Arrington, Va. Featuring the talents of home-grown acts like Lord Nelson as well as the likes of Carlos Santana, storm clouds shaded a parade of artists with all manners of songs to share.

"Locust Avenue” — the first LP from Nettles — is an indie offering with built-in surprises. What first comes across as peaceful, pleasant folk — well-suited for easy listening — quickly reveals itself to be more profound than expected.

When you collaborate with Steve Martin, you mean business. Provided you’re a bluegrass artist or a man named Kato, a partnership like this can only be validating. North Carolina-based bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers teamed up with Martin in 2011, and earned a Grammy nomination for their trouble.

In season five, “Archer” veered away from its tried and true formula of portraying the exploits of a bumbling spy agency made up of mad scientists, chronic alcoholics and sex maniacs, shutting down the agency in the pilot episode. Upon discovering a massive stash of cocaine hidden within their headquarters, the characters became inept drug dealers for the majority of last season, even leading to the show’s rebranding as “Archer Vice.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield doesn’t care what you think. With her bright pink hair and furry green guitar strap, she is an artist who knows her sound and has charted her own course through her music. Mayfield will play her songs, whether you like them or not.

One of two groundbreaking shows that premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010, "Regular Show" has received a swath of critical success, earning four Emmy nominations, and winning one. After 160 episodes, the show has come a long way.

A name like “The Last Bison” is already so folk it feels like flannel. It evokes something primal, ancient and earthy which remains in the present day. This is not a bison among thousands of like-minded species. This is the final bison.
