“Black Mirror” returned to Netflix for a fourth season, bringing along six new episodes. Introducing a series of completely new plots and characters, season four ranges from sweet to downright sadistic. Each episode follows a self-contained storyline, the longest of which clocks in around an hour and 16 minutes, while the shortest barely passes 40 minutes. With each episode able to be viewed independently regardless of episode or season number, each season of “Black Mirror” is uneven, and this newest release is no exception. With this in mind, here is the complete breakdown of every episode of “Black Mirror” season four, ranked from worst to best.

“The New York City Snipper is at it again, snipping women’s ponytails,” reveals a newscaster in the opening scene of the fourth season of “Broad City.” It is a bleak day in the city, dated 2011. New York is gray, grimy and busy — which is just how “Broad City” likes it. Throughout its seasons, “Broad City” has succeeded in peeling off the veneer of glitz and glamor most shows paste over the Big Apple, revealing the gritty underbelly which most real New Yorkers would consider authentic. And of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without adding in its own unique layer of absurdity — which, in this episode, means the presence of a “New York City Snipper.”

“American Horror Story” always tries to push boundaries and examine societal frameworks. Previous seasons have focused on historical events — ranging from factually-accurate stories to those shrouded in myth. However, this season doesn’t look to the past and instead takes a deep-dive into contemporary issues.

For someone who doesn’t attend U.Va., it’s hard to explain what a large part of the undergraduate experience — a cappella — is. For those who choose not to be personally involved with a cappella, the musical groups are still present all over Grounds. Going to see an a cappella group’s fall or spring concert is a social event for many students, and for students who don’t want to pay to see the groups, free performances like Rotunda Sing and Lighting of the Lawn can be found year-round.

After teasing viewers all season, the double-episode finale of “How to Get Away with Murder” brought answers to many long-awaited questions. The last few episodes left quite a bit to be desired and while much is packed into the 80 minutes, it’s hard to keep all of the storylines straight.

“Scream Queens” was never the apex of clever humor, but the second season reached a new low. While the raunchy humor and sinister premise of the first season were entertaining enough to convince Fox to renew the program, unfortunately, the second season provides more misses than hits.

If fans hoped the finale of “American Horror Story: Roanoke” would even out an unbalanced season, they were sorely mistaken. Starting out with a familiar premise of a young couple and a house with a sinister history, the show’s sixth installment nostalgically took fans back to the first season, “AHS: Murder House.” The inter-season connections were not overt but were enough to remind fans why the show was so attractive and interesting at first. As “Roanoke” progressed however, the overarching narrative slipped away, and the episodes fell into a disorderly bloodbath.

The fall finale of “How to Get Away with Murder” answers the question that has been on every viewer’s mind — who was under the sheet? The first episode of season three showed Annalise’s (Viola Davis) house up in flames with a single person wheeled out under a white sheet, though their identity was not revealed until the finale. However, many will be distraught due to a final reveal that left viewers with more questions than answers.

“Scream Queens” is back with a bizarre premise, swapping last year’s college campus for a haunted hospital in which none of the employees seem qualified. Following a disjointed storyline that jumps back and forth from past to present, the second season premiere is confusing at best. At worst, it’s uncomfortable to watch.
