Scott Stadium will host the 2026 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships May 23-25, the athletic department announced Saturday. The Division I semifinals will take place May 23 and the Division II and III finals May 24. The Division I final will be held May 25.

Growing up in my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., I was blessed with an amazing group of girlfriends who supported me through all the good and bad. Before coming to college, I truly could not imagine going through any phase of my life without them. Much to my 17-year-old self’s surprise, however, I’ve since learned that I actually can go through new experiences on my own. While it was tough to accept, I now realize that it is impossible to hold on to every old friend whilst moving into new, separate chapters of my life. And guess what? That is perfectly okay.

The University is a prestigious place, home to dozens of world-renowned academic programs — and one of the nation’s top athletic departments. All students interact with the academic component, of course. As for sports, some students engage deeply with Virginia Athletics, while others seldom cross paths with it. Members of the Virginia squash team competed in the CSA Individual Championships over the weekend, with six members from both the men’s and women’s squads making the trip to New York in hopes of bringing home silverware. The multi-tournament style allowed for multiple Cavaliers a chance to vie for their bracket’s top spot.

Growing up, if you told Shane Cohen he was going to sign with Nike as a professional runner, he probably would have looked at you funny. Then he would have gone back to shooting baskets. But now, after a remarkable 2024 outdoor season at Virginia where he claimed a national title in the 800-meter, earned All-American First Team honors and set a personal best in the 800-meter final at the Olympic Trials, the fantasy of becoming a professional athlete has become a reality.

After a two-week break from competition following a loss to No. 8 Michigan, the Virginia wrestling team was back in action with duals Friday and Saturday. The Cavaliers (4-1, 0-0 ACC) started off at home with a 25-11 win over Pennsylvania and then took a short drive to Lexington, Va., Saturday to beat VMI 40-3. The two wins restored Virginia’s momentum, and the team continues to look much improved this season.

Acrisure Stadium is a great place for a night game. The stadium is packed, the lights are bright and the competition is fierce. Yet, amongst all the glory of the iconic venue, the Virginia football team left the venue in Pittsburgh, Pa., feeling like the best team around. With a 24-19 win against the No. 23 Panthers, the Cavaliers (5-4, 3-3 ACC) have snapped their three-game losing streak and will look to turn their season back around after getting their third comeback win after halftime this season. Coach Tony Elliott praised his team’s resiliency postgame.

Virginia field hockey just so happens to be ranked third-best nationally right now. To date, the Cavaliers boast a 10-1 record with high hopes entering an arduous stretch of ranked matchups. At the core of the Cavaliers’ success is junior midfielder Daniela Mendez-Trendler, who impresses on and off the field — in the classroom and beyond.

The first major event of the fall presidential campaign took place Sept. 10 with the presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump — likely the only time these two candidates will debate before the election. Prior to the debate, The Cavalier Daily assembled an election focus group of undecided student voters to gauge their reactions throughout the election season. Now, just over a week after the debate, among the five participants present at the focus group’s first meeting, all five suggested Harris performed better than Trump in the debate, even if each candidates’ performance did not change their voting intention.
