During Winter Break, some University students work at jobs that earn quick cash, saving just enough money to stock their refrigerators or pay the rent. But a few participated in a program that can help them attain a realistic perception of how high-powered jobs function -- and still had plenty of time to take it easy over break.

Some University students are helping to create their own "Toy Story" this holiday season. Collection boxes were scattered around Grounds for the past two weeks to collect toys for disadvantaged children.

The window pane in 22-year-old University football lineman Mark Lindsey's hospital room was decked out with all sorts of goodies; Halloween candies in mini Jack-O-Lanterns, a white University football complete with signatures from every guy on the team, bright orange-and-blue flowers and a get-well poster courtesy of members of the Pep Band and a small piano in the corner of the room. The nurses, too, even brought him several movies, including "South Park" and "The Mummy." Mark, at the very least, clearly can say he has many people who wish him well.

A memorial service was held yesterday on the steps of the Rotunda to honor the life and contributions of the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The event marked the third anniversary of Rabin's assassination, and was organized in a collaborative effort by the Virginia-Israeli Public Affairs Committee and the Hillel Jewish Center.
