A University doctor and poison expert is speaking out against the dangers of bath salts and other synthetic drugs. Bath salts — a street name for drugs containing mephedrone and other psychoactive stimulants — affects users in ways similar to amphetamines and cocaine.

The New York City Police Department’s “stop and frisk” policy has garnered criticism for its tendency toward racial profiling since it took effect in the 1990s. Kwame Holmes, a post-doctoral fellow at the Carter G. Woodson Institute of African-American and African Studies Monday evening led a discussion about the policy, which allows police officers to stop, question and frisk individuals who they deem suspicious.

Many students who live on-Grounds received an ominous e-mail last week informing them that Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is on the prowl at the University. This notification prompted a flurry of confused questions, including “What is Hand, Foot and Mouth disease?” “How do I get it?” “What are the symptoms?” and “Will I be okay?”
