Virginia softball lost to Radford Tuesday night despite coming up with more hits than the Highlanders.
The Virginia softball team (16-13, 5-4 ACC) welcomed Duke (14-18, 5-4 ACC) to Charlottesville this weekend for an ACC clash at The Park. While the Cavaliers were able to win the Saturday game, the Blue Devils took the remaining two to clinch the series.
Virginia (15-11, 4-2 ACC) traveled to College Park, Md. Tuesday to beat the Terrapins (16-12, 0-0 Big 10). Freshman pitcher Clare Zureich dominated on the mound for the Cavaliers, allowing no hits in five innings of relief. She gave up no walks and had four strikeouts.
After two tough losses Friday and Saturday, the Cavaliers (14-11, 4-2 ACC) came up with 10 hits Sunday to win by six runs against Georgia Tech (18-11, 3-3 ACC) at Mewborn Field in Atlanta.
The Virginia softball team (13-9, 3-0 ACC) won a pair of midweek games, 6-0 Tuesday over Charlotte and 10-1 Wednesday over Furman.
The Cavaliers faced Pittsburgh this weekend in Charlottesville, Va., winning all three matchups to start off with a 3-0 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Two games were tied in the final inning, ending in walk-off victories.
Following a loss to Rutgers Thursday night, Virginia was hot at the plate in this weekend’s Cavalier Classic. Despite the rain, which led to the cancelation of three of Virginia’s scheduled games, the Cavaliers finished the tournament 3-0, reaching double digits in all three matchups. Next, Virginia (8-9, 0-0 ACC) will head to Radford Tuesday before returning to The Park to face Pittsburgh Friday.
The Virginia softball team (5-8) played four games in Knoxville, Tenn., as part of the Tennessee Classic over the weekend. The Cavaliers went 1-3 in the tournament, losing to Kansas and twice to No. 7 Tennessee but defeating Bradley.
After a disappointing opening weekend in Florida, the Virginia softball team headed to Elon, N.C., to compete in the Elon Softball February Classic this past weekend at Hunt Softball Park. The Cavaliers (4-5, 0-0 ACC) impressed with four wins in four games, with a fifth game being cancelled due to inclement weather.
