Charlottesville activist group “Solidarity Cville” and U.Va. Students United held a small protest Sunday night immediately following the Concert for Charlottesville as demonstrators held signs which spelled out “No unity without justice” outside of Gibbons dormitory at the University.

The Delta Psi fraternity at the University — commonly referred to as the St. Anthony Hall fraternity or “the Hall” — held a party Thursday night which has been criticized by some students on social media as encouraging racist conduct by inviting partygoers to wear themed “cops and robbers” attire. It was reportedly shut down by student protesters, according to a Facebook post by activist organization U.Va. Students United.

The Charlottesville City Council unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson from Justice Park near Court Square. The resolution also aims to expedite the process of removing both the Jackson statue and one of Robert E. Lee in Emancipation Park, pending a decision in a lawsuit over whether the city can remove the Lee statue.

The Charlottesville Circuit Court held a second hearing Friday in a lawsuit against the City of Charlottesville concerning the planned removal of the Robert E. Lee from Emancipation Park. Judge Richard E. Moore decided to postpone a ruling on whether the city can legally remove the statue from the park.

Third-year College student Bryanna Miller was selected by the Board of Visitors as the next student member of the Board Thursday. Miller currently serves as the president of the Black Student Alliance and is a College representative on Student Council. She also holds positions on the Honor Audit Commission, the Committee on Undergraduate Admission and is a Meriwether Lewis Fellow.
