Playing their second game in three days, Virginia men’s basketball came up clutch on the road against Syracuse, winning 67-62 Monday night. The No.6 Cavaliers (17-3, 9-2 ACC) used tough defense down the stretch to defeat the Orange (13-10, 6-6 ACC) who were determined to spring an upset at home.

It’s early autumn, and a familiar sound is echoing outside the Observatory Hill Dining Hall. Scattered across the sprawling field are nets, serving only to uphold the weight of a small, yellow ball. Various Virginia sports teams have had an eventful summer so far. The ACC announced a major conference scheduling update for football, and track and field and women’s soccer athletes are making a name for themselves on the global stage. Additionally, several Cavalier teams saw success in the transfer and recruiting realm, and Virginia capped off another strong overall year in athletics with an 11th-place finish in the Director’s Cup.
