The University is ahead of fundraising goals for the fiscal year, according to the Board of Visitors Advancement Committee. The Committee announced during the meeting Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. that 92 percent of $5 billion campaign goals have been reached as of May 22 — a 3 percent increase since March.

The Polish Student Association and Hoos for Ukraine held a joint event Friday in Clark Hall in discussion about families affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Students shared stories of their family in Ukraine and urged community members to support the country through donations and awareness.

As summer approaches, many University students look to sublet their living spaces as they leave Charlottesville, while a smaller group searches to find summer housing in the area. With a lopsided market given the volume of empty apartments versus a relatively low demand for subletting, students find themselves navigating an informal system and advocating for themselves to work out deals that benefit both parties.

After spending his entire college career working with the University Judiciary Committee — most recently, as Chair of the organization — fourth-year College student Nabeel Raza says goodbye to the Committee. Raza spoke highly of the group’s progress towards increased diversity and restorative sanctions.

The University Judiciary Committee met Sunday to transition leadership and introduce the new members of the executive committee. Nabeel Raza, fourth-year College student and former UJC chair, also welcomed second-year College student, Lisa Kopelnik as the new chair.

The Board of Visitors Advancement Committee met Friday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. to discuss philanthropic cash flow success and congratulate this year’s recipients of the Bicentennial Scholarship Program. The Advancement Committee oversees University development, alumni affairs and public communications, including capital campaigns and alumni promotion events.

The Board of Visitors' Building and Grounds Committee heard updates on the Major Capital Plan and approved the plans for the Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology, which was announced Jan. 20. The Board also voted to demolish the townhomes at the College at Wise.

The University Judiciary Committee met 6 p.m. Sunday to consider a proposed bylaw amendment that would expand mandatory conduct violation disclosures for members. The Committee also bid farewell to Susan Davis, senior associate vice president for student affairs and longtime UJC advisor.

New representatives of the University Judiciary Committee joined its general body meeting for the first time Sunday for a refresher on processes involving secondary ruling bodies, such as Contributory Health Impairments and appeals. The group also completed its annual internal demographics survey.
