The no. 47 Virginia women’s tennis team had an action packed spring break, competing in six duals in the nine-day span. After opening this marathon stretch with a dominating 7-0 victory against Maryland, the Cavaliers (6-6, 1-0 ACC) dropped two matches — a tight, hard-fought 4-3 hiccup at Baylor and, for the second time this season, a three-point loss to No. 3 Texas A&M. Virginia then rallied to defeat Michigan State, No. 34 Yale and Tulane to win the Blue Gray Tennis Classic this past weekend in Montgomery, Ala.

The Virginia women’s tennis team will look to gain momentum on the road this weekend as it begins ACC play against rival Maryland in College Park Saturday.

The Virginia women’s tennis team partially recovered from a shaky start to the season by dominating Ole Miss 6-1 Saturday. The Cavaliers were unable to carry this momentum into Sunday, though, and fell to Memphis 5-2.

The No. 16 Virginia women’s tennis team has a busy weekend ahead of itself. After the Cavaliers (1-3, 0-0 ACC) square off against No. 29 Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. Saturday, they will immediately hit the road again to make an 11 a.m. Sunday morning first serve against No. 39 Memphis.

The No. 12 Virginia women’s tennis team dropped all three of its matches to fierce competition at the highly-anticipated ITA National Team Indoors in Charlottesville this weekend. The Cavaliers fell to fourth-ranked University of Southern California 4-1 Friday and failed to regroup, dropping a 4-2 match to No. 16 Michigan Saturday and a 4-1 contest to No. 13 Texas A&M, to wrap up their disappointing tournament appearance Sunday.

In its last conference matchup before the ACC Tournament, the No. 11 Virginia wrestling team will travel to College Park Friday to take on a Maryland team looking to exact a measure of revenge. Last season, the Cavaliers handed the then-13th ranked Terrapins their first loss of the year.
