If you're looking for something new and interesting to listen to as you walk around Grounds, look no further than the University's own Sil'hooettes, an all female a capella group that has not only been strutting their stuff around Grounds, but earning recognition from the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America in their most recent Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards.

One of the University's premier ensembles, the 45-person Wind Ensemble, will perform its perform its February concert Sunday. Typically, in a wind ensemble, there is only one person per part, thus making the music more difficult to perform. There is no one to follow and no one to cover a player's mistakes.

Chris Walla, while most known for his multi-instrumental contributions to Death Cab for Cutie, is also an accomplished producer who has given time and talent to bands such as Nada Surf, Tegan and Sara and the Decemberists. Finally, he has lent his production expertise and talent as a musician to a studio solo album titled Field Manual.

As Family Weekend approaches, many students look forward to seeing their parents and family members again after a long absence. What students should be looking forward to, however, is the coming of Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers to The Satellite Ballroom this Saturday.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of listening to Dashboard Confessional even just once before knows their reputation for depressing music is justifiable. Anyone who has had the pleasure of listening to them more than once, however, knows this assessment doesn't begin to do justice to the quality of their music. Though a good portion of their songs have sad connotations and themes relating mostly to the loss of love, this reputation does not say anything for the enormous capacity for empathy their music possesses.
