With movie franchises trying to make as many films possible to capitalize on profits, the artistic integrity of making a single novel made into multiple movies is certainly questionable. For this, “Mockingjay: Part 1” seems dragged down by the fact too many people are already expecting the conclusion of “The Hunger Games” series. The movie lacks the intensity and involved plotline of the first two films.

Discovering a band at the release of their debut album is like discovering the next great football star right as he scores his first touchdown. Like the somewhat avant garde spelling of their name, PVRIS (pronounced “Paris”) has carved out their own sound, which seems to fuse together the vocals of Echosmith, the musicianship of Paramore and the lyricism of Purity Ring. It’s not to say the group copies the styles of these bands, but this point of reference showcases their musical prowess.

The horror has returned with the latest season of “American Horror Story.” The “Freakshow” is jam-packed with its famously strange and gruesome elements, and from the onset this new season promises to leave the audience with as many questions as answers. But one thing was clear at the conclusion of the first episode: this season is not for those who scare easily.

Fresh off a year in jail, Chris Brown returns to the world of pop music with latest album “X.” After two years without a full-length album and a string of run-ins with the law, Brown had a lot to prove when returning to the studio. This month marks the 50th anniversary of the advent of one of the most influential musical phenomena America has ever seen: the Beatles.
