Virginia plays at Richmond Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Cavaliers’ game against Louisville is set for Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Charlottesville.

​Virginia looks to win three in a row

The No. 10 Virginia field hockey team is looking to win its third straight game, and seven of its last eight when they play Richmond Tuesday. The win would add to a strong stretch of play for the Cavaliers (10-5, 3-2 ACC).


Rather than using her pads to protect the net, then-junior goalkeeper Rebecca Holden chose to protect Syracuse midfielder Hurff.

When No. 1 Syracuse arrived in Charlottesville for the ACC tournament last November, then-No. 5 Virginia’s then-junior goalkeeper Rebecca Holden was ready. 


Senior swimmer Leah Smith made her presence felt at the 2016 Summer Olympics, headlining the 18 athletes representing UVA at the games.

In sending 18 representatives to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Virginia athletic department had much to be proud of prior to the games’ Opening Ceremony.
