Virginia gets by Florida State in OT

It took five minutes longer than usual, but the Virginia men's basketball team defeated Florida State, 76-67, in overtime to give the Cavaliers their first ACC win of the season in thrilling fashion.

The Virginia men's basketball team tallied the ACC's seventh win in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, knocking off Minnesota 86-78 last night at University Hall. The Cavaliers (4-0) were paced by junior Elton Brown and freshman Gary Forbes, with 26 and 22 points respectively.

Cavaliers take down SHU, 2-0, in NCAAs

The Virginia men's soccer team kept its season alive in strong fashion Friday night with a 2-0 shutout victory over visiting Seton Hall University in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It took one goal in the first half and another in the second for the Cavaliers to advance into the second round of the playoffs. Virginia improved to 10-9-2 on the year while Seton Hall dropped to 9-6-4, with the loss ending their season. "I couldn't have drawn it up any better in terms of the game plan, getting the goal in the first half and making sure we kept them off the board," Virginia coach George Gelnovatch said.

Men's golf takes ninth at Franklin Street Invite

Finishing with an overall score of 929 (+65), the Virginia men's golf team took ninth place in the Franklin Street Partners Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Host North Carolina narrowly escaped with the title, shooting an 875 overall, with Georgia State taking second with 879, only four strokes behind North Carolina. Senior Jeremy Luce, shooting a 230 (+14) overall, led Virginia in the tournament with sophomores Brad Tilley and Craig Cook-Stevenson shooting 234, being tied for 32nd, following Luce.
