Taking a stand for good writing

THE BEST teacher I ever had was a third year student at the University. His name: Tom Bednar. He already has taken his degree and is in Iowa, but his lessons remain in my mind and in my heart.

ACLU: not violating own principles

THE UNIVERSITY'S chapter of the American Civil Liber-ties Union has, of late, come under attack for its involvement in the "NOT BLACK ... NOT JEWISH ... NOT FEMALE ... NOT GAY" flyers posted around Grounds.

Honor survey doesn't ring true

IN A FEAT of irony, the Honor Committee has been either actively dishonest or incompetent. Neither interpretation is flattering to the Committee. Last year, before students considered the four honor referenda, three of which the student body soundly rejected, the Committee in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Assessment conducted a survey to gauge student opinion on the honor system.

Cut Council's attempt to stop chant

STUDENT Council has earned a new name: Stupid Council. It has placed such a strong priority on something it really cannot affect - eradicating the "Not gay" chant in the Good Ol' Song. First off, this is not to condone the chant.
