No. 11 Louisville relied on a 22-12 run in the final nine minutes to pull away from Virginia, 74-59, at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. The Cavaliers (14-13, 4-9 ACC) hung tough against a Cardinals, who sit in second place in the conference standings.

Senior guard Faith Randolph led Virginia with a team-high 17 points, six rebounds and five steals. Junior guard Breyana Mason led the Cavaliers with seven rebounds.

The efforts of Mason aside, Louisville (21-6, 12-1 ACC) dominated the boards — out-rebounding Virginia 41-27.

The Cavaliers started the game by knocking down five of their first seven shots and were even with the Cardinals at 17-17 with 42 seconds remaining in the first period.

But the hot shooting would not transfer into the second quarter, in which Virginia struggled early to hit shots. The Cavaliers missed five of their first six shots and found themselves in an eight-point hole. Virginia manage, however, to pull within one point with 2:18 remaining in the half, but the Cardinals built a 37-33 halftime lead following three costly Virginia turnovers.

Throughout the night, the Cavaliers battled to stay in the game and made it a two-point game with 5:41 remaining in the third period. Louisville again would pull away with a 6-0 run, and Virginia trailed 52-45 after three quarters.

It was in the fourth quarter when the Cardinals pulled away for good. Louisville held the Cavaliers scoreless for the final 3:12, and Louisville freshman forward Myisha Hines-Allen scored 12 of her 22 points in the final quarter.

Hines-Allen was one of four Louisville scorers to reach double digits. Freshman forward Mariya Moore scored 18, corralled seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Freshman guard Asia Durr and junior guard Briahanna Jackson had 15 and 11, respectively.

Louisville stymied sophomore guard Mikayla Venson. The Arlington, Va., native scored seven points on 2-of-8 shooting and turned the ball over four times. As a team, Virginia committed 13 turnovers.

Virginia will host Clemson Sunday, Feb. 21 in the Play4Kay pink game. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
