First years in Toyland
The First Year Council has a plan to bring happiness to sick children. "Destination Toyland," a community service project, will provide toys for the seventh floor play area at the Children's Medical Center.
Two toy drives, organized through first-year dormitories, will take place this spring, First-Year Council Secretary Sara Hume said.
"We're trying to get each dorm to put together a 'goodie packet' for each kid," Hume said.
She said Council wants the entire first-year class to be involved in the project.
"This is something we want the whole class excited and involved in," she added.
Money for initiating the project came from the Seven Society, which provided a check for $2,777.77 at Fall Convocation, Hume said.
She said Council hopes for the toy drive to continue in years to come.
"This is something we're hoping will be a continual outreach for First-Year Council to do," she added. "They'll always need new toys."
