Forward Eskandarian earns ACC player of the week honors

Junior forward Alecko Eskandarian was chosen as the ACC player of the week, sharing the award with Ryan Kneipper of North Carolina.

In the game against Kentucky over the weekend, Eskandarian added two straight goals to give Virginia a 3-2 victory after trailing 2-1.

During the Rhode Island match, Eskandarian, from Montvale, N.J., tied the game at 1-1 before Virginia went on to win 2-1.

On the season, Eskandarian has one game winning goal and a game winning assist, leading the team with seven points.

Eskandrian and the Cavaliers will compete in the FILA Classic at College Park, Md. this weekend. They face VCU on Friday at 5 p.m. and Penn State on Sunday at 7 p.m.
