Women's club tennis remains undefeated

The Virginia women's club tennis team continued its undefeated season Saturday at Snyder Tennis Center with a 7-2 win over William & Mary. Fourth-year Shannon Christensen, second-years Nari Kerr, Lilli Hyder and Whitney Porter and first-years Jamie Zakkak, Leigh Shoettinger and Mallori Browne all had wins to help the team defeat the Tribe.

Club sailing finishes seventh at Henry Luce competition

The Virginia club sailing team traveled to Annapolis, Md., last weekend to compete for the Henry Luce Trophy at the Naval Academy. In the A division, second-years Roger Counihan and Avi Kripilani came in eighth place. In the B division, first-year Martha Gray and second-year Kristen Klement came in sixth place, including one first-place finish. The team finished seventh overall out of 12 boats.

Ice hockey begins league play with wins over Duke

The Virginia club ice hockey team flattened previously undefeated Duke this weekend in North Carolina with two victories to begin its league play.

Down 2-0 after the first period of play Friday night, Virginia exploded in the second two periods, scoring 10 goals to post a 10-3 victory. Captain Phil Giampietro led all scorers with two goals and three assists, forwards Danny Miller and Larry Kosilla both added four points and defensemen Matt Pizzuto and Brandon Possin also found the back of the net.

On Saturday, the Cavaliers found no reason to let down against the Blue Devils with a 7-4 win despite allowing three power play goals. Giampietro again led the team with two goals and one assist.
