"You've seen it in scary movies and thrillers: where they react in absolute horror as they see where past victims have tried to claw their way out, leaving bits of fingernails and blood traces. Just so is the ground floor door in Wilson Hall, nearest the Spanish Department office, leading out to JPA and closest to Cabell Hall. There is a horizontal crossbar door latch which, when pushed to open the door, goes all the way down to the wood in the door, thus mashing fingers against the wood. And one can see where this has happened for years, where the (hard?) wood of the door has been virtually clawed away by hapless victims' fingernails. Have they ever fixed the door latch? No, but it occasionally gets a fresh coat of paint from a Facilities Management paint crew, right over the existing pit of clawed wood -- thus obscuring this pitfall for another term of unsuspecting door openers. Beware! And use your butt instead!"
